The proverbial milk always spills. We are human and mistakes are inevitable. We run late, we miss deadlines, we snark more often than cheer, dent bumpers, ding new dishes.
Thank goodness for National Don’t Cry Over Spilt Milk Day on February 11. This is the day to wipe it up (be optimistic) and move on. This is the day to find something good in everything that unfolds.
Just in case you rise and your mojo is off, or the day progresses and your optimism is pushed to the brink when the milk spills, try one of these five fast fixes:
Put an inspiring quote on a sticky note and stick on a bathroom mirror for you and others to see.
Bring more beauty into your life. Music, art, sweet smells – surround yourself.
Wander. Get outside, or into a gallery, and just wander. Perhaps notice the awesome things unfolding around you.
Be yourself, not someone else.
Don’t look to others for happiness or credibility. Do what makes you feel confident and comfortable. Wear what makes you feel good. Don’t compare yourself to others.
Count your blessings and successes. We all have them, but we often fail to recognize what is going well in our lives and then feel grateful.
Milk spills. On February 11, wipe it up more quickly and move on.
