Hanover is home to both a minor league football team – the Hanover Rhinos, and a raucous roller derby team – the Black Rose Rollers. Both teams kick off their spring seasons in March.
With a history dating back to the 1950’s, the Hanover Rhinos minor league football team kicks off their season March 11 against the Virginia Beach Rhinos (yep, the team shares a mascot with its biggest rival). Visit www.hanoverrhinos.org for more information about the team and to view the season schedule.
Founded in 2010, the Black Rose Rollers is an all-female roller derby team looking to have fun in a family-friendly environment. The Rollers are scheduled to take on the River City Roller Girls from Richmond, Va. on March 26 at Magic Elm Skateland, 625 West Elm Ave., Hanover.
